Project Assessment

You can download an example assessment form to get an idea of how student assessment is performed.

Each EEE 499 student is assessed from evaluations of the follow components:

  • 5% A mid-term presentation
the average of the evaluations by the project supervisor and at least two academic staff.

  • 30% A written report
the average of the evaluations by the project supervisor and at least two academic staff.

  • 30% A final presentation
the average of the evaluations by the project supervisor and at least two academic staff.

  • 25% The evaluation by the project supervisor
including her opinion of the student's work (15%), and the student's attendance (10%).
To gain a high score here you should visit your supervisor regularly and take note of her advice/requirements.

  • 10% The evaluation by the GPC of the poster session
make sure you follow the regulations regarding the preparation fo the poster, attend the poster session and be ready to demonstrate/explain your project to visitors.
Details of each component are given in the links.

The course grade is determined from the total score (in percent) using the following (standard) score-to-grade translation is used:

  0 ≤ score < 40 = FF
40 ≤ score < 50 = FD
50 ≤ score < 60 = DD
60 ≤ score < 70 = DC
70 ≤ score < 75 = CC
75 ≤ score < 80 = CB
80 ≤ score < 85 = BB
85 ≤ score < 90 = BA
90 ≤ score        = AA

Important: if you do not attend the final presentation, or do not submit a report, then your grade will be "n/a".

Project students are assessed by the supervisor of the project and by at least two additional "assessors" who score the student's mid-term presentation, project report and final presentation.
See the list of participants.

Students who fail EEE 499 may retake the same project or choose a different project.
