Poster Session

Completed projects together with a poster will be displayed to the public during the poster session that takes place after the final presentation. Project students will be available to demonstrate their project and answer questions from visitors.
Note that, to reduce the duration of the presentation sessions, demonstrations of your project to assessors will take place during the poster session; the poster session is therefore an important part of the project assessment.

This poster session provides staff and students with an opportunity to discover the full scope of graduation projects performed in the department. Representatives from local industry will attend the poster session so this is an ideal opportunity for students to impress potential employers! At the end of the poster session, the best project of the semester will be awarded.

Poster preparation

  1. The size of the poster should be portrait orientation and size 53 cm x 75 cm
    (see the example below).
  2. The poster should consist of a comprehensive summary of the project work. The title, student names, supervisor name, abstract, summary of work done, results, conclusions, references should be there, but briefly as possible. Figures and tables are powerful tools to visually present the project, so make use of them. Don't include Acknowledgements unless there is a specail case.
  3. If you submit your poster to the GPC (in powerPoint or PDF format) by the given deadline, then the department will print and take the poster to the poster session for you. In this case please use a light background.
Additional notes:
  • If you use a logo (e.g. the University logo) or other images, make sure they have good resolution.
  • Use photos that were taken with good lighting conditions (when printed, photos are darker than the original digital versions).
  • Make text reable at distance: good contrast between the background and foreground text, and large font size (about size 36 in Power Point).

An example poster can be found here: EEE499ExamplePoster.pptx [1.2 MB]
Feel free to use this as a template for preparing your own poster.
